The first step in effectively managing Ontario’s invasive terrestrial species is finding where the species are located. The Invading Species Awareness Program, in partnership with the Ontario Invasive Plant Council coordinates Invasive Plant Road Rallies to track, monitor and map terrestrial invasive species in Ontario. The information gathered during road rallies is input into the Invading Species Database, and shared with interested parties. Knowing where invasive species are taking hold helps those faced with preventing and controlling the invaders to coordinate management activities. To learn how you can get involved or for more information, contact the Invading Species Hotline 1-800-563-7711.
